How is OD supporting the Supply Chain Crunch?

Investing in Capacity to Maintain Service Levels

Untangling the global supply chain is something no one party can handle alone.  We're navigating an unprecedented strain--not just the trucking industry, but every party involved in the manufacturing of goods and getting them to the shelves.  While the situation seems to be improving, we anticipate the increased freight volumes to continue well into 2022.

We know that trucking will play a key role in helping to improve the current challenges.  Our industry moves more than 10 billion tons of freight annually which is over 70% of total domestic tonnage shipped in the U.S.

You can trust that OD is doing our part to ensure that you can keep your promises to your customers.  We believe strongly that staying ahead of the challenges means adding capacity to handle the increased freight volumes and meeting the shipper's demands.  So far in 2021, OD has:

  • Invested over $500 million on capital expenditures in key areas such as new facilities and equipment
  • Expanded or opened ten service centers nationwide
  • Hired more than 4,000 people, including more than 2,200 truck drivers
From a carrier's perspective, the most important thing we can do to help the supply chain is to continue providing the highest level of on-time, claims-free service that you've come to expect from OD.  We know that reliability removes cost, uncertainty, and frustration from the supply chain.
